Denim Pinafore Dress

(Denim Pinafore Dress: Topshop/Scarf: H&M/Shoes: Converse/Ring: Regal Rose/Watch: Vintage)

So yep. I'm definitely obsessed with the pinafore trend, and it seems to be sweeping in to every high street store at the moment. I already have a black pinafore dress (seen here) but I wanted one which is more casual that I can wear from day to day. I really liked this denim one as it's got a vintage feel about it and this makes it really versatile so that I can wear all different pieces underneath without being limited. Another recent addition to my wardrobe, is my Cambridge Satchel. I've wanted this one since Christmas time as I saw it sitting in Urban Outfitters but couldn't really justify the over £100 price-tag - but theeeeeen, I was browsing Cambridge Satchel's website and saw that it was in the sale on their website, so knew I had to get it there and then as it was limited edition! I love it's subtle glittery look and it's quite different from the average satchels I've seen.
To clash with the simple denim, I wore this H&M scarf which I've had for absolutely years but have never really worn it until recently. I really love how it looks with denim as well as the paisley and floral patterns.

Burgundy Frills

(Dress: Topshop/Brogues: Primark/Socks: Topshop)

I love simple outfit days like this where I can just throw on a lovely dress and wear either my loafers or brogues. If I could wear these types of outfits everyday I would - (If only I had enough dresses!). I really love this dress particularly as it mixes in two of my favourite things - Burgundy and Polka Dots! It's also really flattering and fits me in the right places which is also a necessity.  I got this dress at Christmas time as it's quite festive and the colour means it's a perfect dress for Winter, however, I cannot wait to wear this all throughout Spring and Summer with sandals and depending on the weather, no tights. I teamed my dress with these brogues from Primark which have actually lasted quite well for Primark quality shoes haha. I'm also wearing my frilly Burgundy socks as it's a nice little addition to quite a simple, easy outfit!

My Favourite Pink Lipsticks

Lipsticks from L-R:
MAC Lustre Finish Lipstick in, 'Plink!'
Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in, 'Pink Blush'
MAC Amplified Finish Lipstick in, 'Chatterbox'
Revlon Color-burst Lip Butter in, 'Strawberry Shortcake'

On a daily basis, I tend to wear Pink toned lipsticks as they are easy to wear all day without the high maintenance re-applying and Beige-nude tones really do not suit me at all as they wash me out and make me look dead! These four lipsticks are the ones in my make-up collection that I always tend to pick out from day to day when I want subtle pink hues to compliment the rest of my make-up.

MAC, 'Plink!' Lipstick: I've already got a review on this lipstick so if you want a more details on it then feel free to click, here! This is probably the most sheer out of all my favourites but is still one of those lipsticks which is noticeable on the lips, due to the gold shimmer it has running through it reflecting the light. It has a more Peachy-Pink colour to it, than the rest of the colours and it's easy to wear during the day because of it's sheerness and overall, 'Lustre' finish. This makes it quite moisturising too. I like this lipstick because it's not one that everyone has and most other make-up brands don't have any colours identically similar to it making it quite a unique buy.

MAC, 'Chatterbox' Lipstick: This was my first ever MAC lipstick. I didn't know which colour I wanted, so just picked out this as I thought, 'It's a pink, so I'm bound to wear it'. It's the brightest out of my four and it is definitely the most creamiest, pigmented lipstick. I absolutely LOVE the finish of this because of it's creamy texture and the fact that it glides on my lips so effortlessly which makes it so easy to apply without the need for a lip-liner. You can either apply this lightly to give a bright-pinky stain or more like I have done in the swatch. This makes it perfect for night time as well, as it can give you a pretty bright lip.

Revlon, 'Strawberry Shortcake' Lip Butter: I heard good things about these lip-butters so was intrigued to see if they lived up to all the fuss. Obviously, I picked one up in a pink colour! This particular one applies quite sheer but still can be seen on the lips. As this product is a hybrid between a lipstick and lip-balm, it's definitely on the more moisturising side and because of this, it doesn't leave my lips dry or flaky. The only down side to this would be that you have to keep applying during the day more than you would with a lipstick, however, it's not really a chore as all you need are a few quick swipes of this across the lips and you're good to go!

Rimmel, 'Pink Blush' Lipstick: This beauty is my most used lipstick ever. As you can see I have only a tiny bit left to go. It's a more Bubble-gum pinky tone from the others, however, there are still undertones of Red in it which keep it from looking like something Nicki Minaj would wear. It's in between a matte and shiny finish so is perfect for all day and makes it comfortable to wear. For such a cheap lipstick as well at £4.99, it's pigmented and has lasting power (hence the name). I always find myself reaching for this as it suits my complexion the best day to day and is easy to apply in a rush!

Katie Loves... Monochrome.

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of posts last month... I don't know where the time has gone but I've been so busy with different things at the moment that I've lost track of my blog and didn't really want to put up a rubbish, rushed post.

Anyway, I thought I'd do a slightly different post from my usual and that's on to current trends for SS13. You all probably know what they are but I thought I'd incorporate my favourites in to a few seperate upcoming blog posts starting with, monochrome. Now this is a trend which I see coming back time and time again, and I think it's because it is a really easy look for anyone and everyone to pull off and if done right, the look is really timeless as well as really elegant and classy. Although, this Summer/Spring, I saw that most monochrome outfits on the catwalk were more daring and adventurous with clashing vertical and horizontal stripes and checkerboard prints all swirled together in one outfit.  I saw so many celebrities wearing their latest monochrome inspired outfits at London Fashion Week this year such as Caroline Flack and Pixie Lott (my fave!). Not only that, most high-street stores have already jumped on the monochrome band-wagon. Here are my favourite picks...

I've also recently discovered, Polyvore... How cool is it?! Slightly obsessed. Also, if anyone would like to see particular posts from me, I'd love some requests! :)
