My Favourite Autumn Lipsticks

Swatches from L-R:
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in, 'Black Cherry'
MAC Satin Finish Lipstick in, 'Rebel'
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in, 'Spiced Brandy'
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in, 'Electric Plum'

Hey guys. Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I've just been busy with work, University, my birthday and other things, that I haven't had a chance to write as many posts as I would have liked to. And I really didn't want to write a crappy, rushed post.

Sticking to the theme of Autumn, I've decided to do a post on my favourite Autumnal lipsticks this year. As you can probably tell, they are all quite dark, vampy shades. I am a lover of dark Berry shades of lipstick all year round anyway but it seems that everyone has gone mad this Autumn, especially for these types of lipsticks as they fit in with the current colour trends that are so popular at the moment. (E.g. Burgundy/Wine shades).

My favourites are:

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in, 'Black Cherry' which is quite a recent buy of mine. I actually bought it in the Summer but have only just started using it. It's the darkest of my four favourites and I picked this up especially because I wanted a dark Brown type of lipstick. It is quite pigmented but it's no where near as pigmented as, MAC, 'Rebel' which I love. I also think this shade is a bit hard to pull off and sometimes makes me look a bit washed out but with the right outfit and make-up it can look stunning on anyone!

MAC Satin Finish Lipstick in, 'Rebel' is probably my favourite lipstick, of all time. That's how much I love it. I wear it all year round (not on a daily basis - usually on a night out) and just fall in love with it every time I go to apply it. I wanted this so bad and it was sold out everywhere and after searching high and low for it for some time I finally got my hands on it around January this year. It's quite similar to, 'Black Cherry' but it's a lot more wearable and has pinky-purple undertones rather than Brown undertones. It's highly pigmented and lasts ALL DAY. It's actually so long lasting and even when I wear this all night and take it off once I get in, it's so hard to get off and in the morning I can still see a Pink stain on my lips! I just love this lipstick, I have no negatives. I wear this with, MAC, 'Current' Lip pencil.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in, 'Spiced Brandy' is another recent buy. It's quite different from any other shade I own and it's more Red compared to the other three lipsticks I've mentioned. It also has gold flecks/shimmer which are a nice subtle touch and isn't too OTT. I think it's a perfect shade for the Christmas season coming up. The colour isn't too strong on the lips either and it has a slight glossy feel. It's nice if you want a change from a typical Red lip and are scared of wearing something as dark as, 'Black Cherry'.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in, 'Electric Plum' is the lipstick which I've had for the longest - when I was first trying out darker shades of lipstick. The good thing with this lipstick is although it looks quite dark, once applied, it's quite a soft shade of plum which has a glossy finish. This lipstick isn't as long lasting as the others, probably because of the glossy feel but it doesn't dry yours lips out whatsoever. This is great for anyone who is nervous about trying out the darker Berry/Vampy colours on the lips but still want to try it out. It's also the cheapest of my favourites mentioned here, so if you don't like it, it's not the end of the world! :)

My Favourite Autumn 2012 Fashion Trends

As it's Autumn now I'm getting so excited to start wearing and layering up all my Wintery clothes. I much prefer Autumn and Winter clothes-wise because you can do so much more with your outfits. I love love layering my clothes in the colder months, I think it can make an outfit looks ten times better and give it more dimension. For example, shirts under jumpers, crop top jumpers over plain skater dresses and ankle socks over tights are just a few ways I'd style an outfit.
I thought I'd do a post on my favourite Autumn trends this year... You probably all know about them already but I've also found some really cute pieces searching on line that I want to show you.

At first, I wasn't quite sure about Tartan making a comeback but slowly I have become swayed. I do think that if it isn't done right it can look REALLY bad - a bit like a Boarding School uniform haha. So I wouldn't maybe think about wearing both the blazer and trousers in this as I think it's a little too much but if you're brave and can pull it off, why not? I've been really thinking to buy the H&M scarf as it can give a nice flash of Tartan to a Winter outfit and would look amazing with a Khaki coat.
Also loving the Fashion Union shirt because of the difference with the leather collar and Gold chain detailing - so affordable too! I would definitely recommend trying Tartan out, but I can see why it's not to everybody's taste so perhaps the subtlety of the Green and Blue Tartan Topshop shirt would be an easy way to break in to this trend.

Blazer - River Island
Trousers - River Island

Leather Collar Shirt - Fashion Union

I was obsessed with Velvet last year, and I still am. Especially, Black and Oxblood coloured Velvet. I haven't really experimented with any other colours yet. Velvet clothes are perfect for the chilly months and they have that real cosy feeling about them. Unlike Tartan, I think this trend is a lot more versatile when it comes to dressing. There are even Velvet Dr. Marten's! They look a lot similar to the boots I picked up from H&M a few weeks ago but are triple the price - still love the dainty floral pattern on them though.
Also a big factor I love about Velvet is the way you can layer it up with different textures in an outfit. For example, a Velvet Bralet and Chiffon skirt would look beautiful. The Topshop leotard above would also be perfect for layering under a high-waisted skirt or shorts... even trousers. I'm going to have to stop myself from buying everything Velvet this Winter!

Burgundy, Wine, Dark Red, Maroon, Oxblood - I've heard so many names for this colour now I don't know what to call it anymore. I've gone for Oxblood as that's what I've been seeing more recently. This is literally my favourite colour to dress in. I think it's a really easy and flattering colour for anyone to wear. I prefer it a lot more than wearing bright Red, I don't even have one piece of Red clothing in my wardrobe that's how much I hate Red! This colour just instantly reminds me of Autumn, along with Khaki, Brown and Tan. This colour is literally everywhere in the shops - perfect for the festive season. I think everyone should at least have one piece in their wardrobe that's this colour purely because you can dress it down, and also dress it up and makes a nice change from boring Black's and Brown's. Here are some pieces I found online at the moment that I fell in love with!

ELF, 'Red Carpet' Lip-Stain & New Fashion Buys

As you probably saw in one of my last posts I was raving on about how much I wanted this, ELF Lip Stain in the colour, 'Red Carpet'. I finally got round to purchasing it and I've got to say, the delivery was super quick so I was really happy with that! I hate waiting around for a week for things to arrive but this came in around 3-4 days after I bought it on ELF's UK Online website.
Overall, I am loving this product, especially for the price as well (£3.75). This applicator makes me really easy to apply the colour straight on to the lips and allows to be precise to a certain degree. I don't even think you need to apply a lip-liner first as you can be pretty neat with this depending on how steady your hand is!
The colour is a perfect, 'Red Carpet' look Red-shade. It dries a lovely matte effect. I love matte lips, especially Red. The colour does remind me of my favourite Red lipstick ever, 'Ruby-Woo' by MAC but this is a lot less drying on the lips than the MAC one. I feel this ELF Lip Stain may even look amazing on top of, 'Ruby-Woo' to make the colour even more strong and long-lasting. If you're not a fan of matte lips then you can apply the clear gloss provided on the other end of the tube.
I don't think you can really go wrong with this product. It's definitely worth it, considering how cheap it is as well!

Also as well as buying this, I thought I'd show you a few fashion bits I have got recently.

These amazing high-waisted vintage Levi shorts from Love Clothing and some Doc-Marten-esque Burgundy Velvet boots from... H&M! Couldn't believe it when I saw them in there. Loved them so much, they were an instant purchase.

My Make-Up Collection/Storage

The other week I decided that my make-up and pretty much everything beauty related that I had needed to be sorted out properly. All my make-up was stored neatly in make-up bags/boxes in my drawers but I didn't like that. Purely because I couldn't see everything visually and therefore would tend to forget about certain products that I had. So a lot of the things I have bought would become neglected and that's not exactly good when you're spending money on products which are there to be used.
With this, I went to IKEA in hope to find some sort of plastic compartment trays or some other kind of storage to fit in to my drawers so that I could organise everything neatly. I actually did see a lot of nice storage ideas in there and most of them where really cheap. I ended up picking two different types of storage to use for my things. The first is the transparent, 'Antonius Basket Insert' which you can look at/buy, here. They're only £1.70 each! I got three of these for my three drawers which fitted perfectly in to them. I also bought a set of six different sized boxes in the colour White from the, 'Skubb' range for £6 in total. (Look at them, here). Don't worry about them being fiddly to assemble, it takes two seconds literally. All you do is, zip up the zip at the bottom of the box and they will flip in to shape.

In my first drawer, (Images 1 and 2) I have my foundations, tinted moisturisers, primers and blushers in one compartment. Lip-glosses in the one next to that. I tried to get a picture of the back of the drawer but it was way too dark. At the back we have mascaras, and eye-liners/pencils. In the White boxes, I have my everyday essentials in the front and in the second behind that, I have small brushes (Real Techniques, MAC, Benefit) and tools (such as, tweezers). Naked2 Palette also fits neatly in to the gap there.

On to the second drawer, (Images 3 and 4) I have all my nail polishes. I don't know if you can tell but they are all colour coordinated. Yes, I definitely am a neat-freak and may have slightly OCD tendencies. I love organisation. In the White box to the left of the nail polishes, is a bit of a miscellaneous collection of things. I keep my nail files in there, along with body sprays, some creams and brushes from a make-up brush set I recently got.

Finally, in my last drawer, (Images 5 and 6) I have eye-shadows and eye-crayons in the middle left compartment. In the drawer behind that, I have mostly Barry M Dazzle Dust's along with some MAC ones which also fitted snuggly in there. At the back, are also my trusty few highlighters. In the middle right compartment, here is where I keep my glitter/eye liquid liners - which I rarely ever use to be honest. In the front I keep my lip-liners along with my lip balms and bronzers.
Lastly, in the Skubb White box I have my bigger brushes and some sets of eyelashes for good measure!

I am so glad it's all organised. Can't wait to start using those products I've forgotten about. Also, if anyone reads this and has a similar post, link me to it below, I love reading/watching Make-Up Collection/Storage videos on blogs/YouTube!
