FOTD: Brown Smokey Eyes

Hey everyone. Thought I'd do a different post today on make-up and beauty! My first ever blog post on the, MAC Cranberry Eye-shadow look did well so I thought I'd try out a different one. This time I did a, Brown smokey eye using, 'The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes' which I have. I used the, 'Chocolate Box' which has four gorgeous shades in the colours - Marshmallow (the lightest Peachy colour), Honeycomb (a Bronze shade), Dark Chocolate (a rich shimmery Chocolate colour with Orange undertones) and lastly the darkest in the set, Choc Chip (which has a deep Chocolate tone). You can look at the eye-shadow palette, here. They also have a selection of other colour palettes to choose from as well. The reason why I chose to do a Brown Smokey Eye is because it looks so good on Brown eyes. Black sometimes can look a little harsh and this is more subtle.

Here are the products I used to complete the look:

To complete this look, I firstly defined my eyebrows using a dark Brown eyeshadow and a MAC 266 angled brush. I started the eye-shadow by dusting the Marshmallow eye-shadow all over my eyelid up to the crease using a MAC 217 brush. I then used Honeycomb across the inner section of my eyelid up to the middle of it. Then to create some definition, I used the Dark Chocolate eye-shadow along my socket line, remembering to blend well using the 217 brush to avoid any harsh looking lines.
Next, I applied, the Choc Chip shade over the outer third of the eyelid and through the socket. Then I also used this under my eyelashes to create some depth. I also added a matte Dark Brown shade in to the socket as I felt the two darker Brown shades of the palette were not strong enough to create that desired smokey effect. That's maybe one of the things I don't like so much about the eye-shadow palette as some of the shades aren't strongly pigmented.

Once the eye-shadow was done, I lined my top lashes with Clinique Gel Liner with a very thin fineliner. I only drew a thin line as I didn't want the Black to appear harsh against the Brown. I also applied some Brown eyeliner on to my water-line. Finally, I applied lashings of mascara to complete the look. To compliment the shimmers of the eye-shadows, I used my Sunbeam Topshop highlighter on the top of my cheekbones.
I really like this look!
